About Cemetery

A Legacy of Community Care

The Calvert City Cemetery is a place of profound historical significance, its origins rooted in the generosity of the Calvert family, early residents who donated the land to provide a final resting place for their neighbors. For generations, this sacred ground was privately managed by a dedicated committee of local citizens, embodying the very spirit of community stewardship. This tradition of collective care ensured the cemetery's preservation for over a century.

In 2009, following a severe ice storm, the City of Calvert City assumed official ownership, marking a new chapter in the cemetery's long history. Under city stewardship, the site has seen significant enhancements designed to honor its past while serving future generations.

A Place for Reflection and Remembrance

Today, the cemetery spans 11.5 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. It serves as a vital repository of community memory, honoring the lives of local residents, veterans who served their country, and individuals from all walks of life who have become part of the city's story. The careful restoration of older graves ensures that historical connections are preserved, allowing visitors to reflect on the community's heritage.

The recent additions of a serene lake and decorative water features create a tranquil environment for quiet contemplation. Paved pathways throughout the grounds enhance accessibility for all visitors, making it a welcoming space for remembrance.
